This 750 foot post-tensioned concrete girder bridge utilizing precast tub sections and was made integral with a 200 foot ramp to form an elevated "T" intersection. The bridge is founded on 8 foot diameter drilled shafts and located in a busy urban core. Key issues included SEPA permits, railroad coordination, utility coordination, Arts and aesthetic components and right of way constraints. This 1,200-foot overpass structure crosses over railroad tracks, an industrial site, Superfund cleanup site, and under high tension transmission lines. Four concepts were developed for a complicated site with liquefaction potential. The steel plate girders with spans of 250 feet were chosen for the final design. Unique feature of this project are the 37 inch diameter lead core rubber seismic isolation bearings. (In-house experience as Project Manager, Lead Design & Engineer of Record

Canyon Creek

Canyon Creek Bridge

Seward Highway, AK

This project included a bridge study report and final design of a 900 foot long concrete bridge over Canyon Creek. The bridge consists of seven spans of prestressed concrete girders made continuous for live load. The bridge is located in a zone of high seismicity, A=0.5g.
