South Fork Bridge

Skagit County, WA

Shearer Design has completed two separate projects on this bridge, the first being a seismic retrofit and the second an overlay. This mixed structure (concrete & steel girders) required enlarged pier caps and seismic restrainers.

S. Fork Bridge

Shearer Design provided engineering and PS&E bid documents for the seismic retrofit of this 900 foot, 8 span steel girder and prestressed concrete girder bridge over the Skagit River. Project included extensive dynamic analysis, review of several retrofitting schemes and design of restrainer brackets and pier cap extension.

A later overlay project involved hydroblasting off the top 1/2 inch of deck surface and then pouring a new concrete deck surface over top. The project involved a total bridge closure for a 2 week duration.
